WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE EVALUATION
Evaluations typically last 4-8 hours (2-3 hours for geriatric evaluations). The evaluation begins with a clinical interview involving the client and an informant. The testing portion of the evaluation consists of completing a combination of pencil-and-paper and computerized tests of various cognitive domains. Emotional functions are also evaluated as mood symptoms can be an important factor in one's level of cognitive functioning.
Cognitive domains to be assessed can include:
- Intellectual Functioning
- Academic/Achievement Functioning
- Executive Functioning
- Sensory Perceptual and Motor
- Symptom Validity
- Emotional Functioning
After the testing is completed, Dr. Karantzoulis prepares a comprehensive written report. Reports are provided to the client and any referral sources. A feedback session is conducted within one week at most after completion of the testing to review the results and discuss the specific treatment recommendations. Results can also be discussed at length with the referral source. Our goal is to provide clear and concise results to clients so that their level of cognitive functioning is clearly and thoroughly understood and treated appropriately.
